The e-scooter country that sets the example for the rest of the world – Singapore

Singapore is the solution to car pollution

Lately, there has been a lot of news around Electric Scooters. Many new companies both product manufacturers and brands but also surrounding services like scooter sharing has emerged trying to to get a piece of the pie that is up for grabs.

Strangely, looking at many of the Asian countries they have been utilizing both gas and electric driven scooter models for many years as a alternative to the car. Singapore who has a long history of being a technically advanced country has had scooter sharing companies for many years now and electric scooters are one of the most common transportation used for work or shorter commutes.

Electric scooter have already proven time and time again

Electric scooters has throughout the history proven itself to be a sustainable and environmental friendly option, even in comparison to public transportation.

Now more than ever can electric scooters really be utilized to a potential where even the longer commutes of 10 miles+ can be done in just a short amount of time.

Thanks to new emerging battery technology they can now ride faster and further than ever. A report from Envyride where they compare the fastest models against each other to see which one is the fastest reported a top speed of over 55 mph.

During this test, multiple scooters actually achieved a top speed above 55 mph which is much faster than the average driving speed of a car, especially in a city like Singapore. So once again these scooters have proven that they cannot only handle that last mile problem, they can and will easily handle the whole trip from start to finish.

The pros and cons of electric scooter riding

The obvious pro is the positive effect switching out a fossil powered vehicle for something that drives on electricity has on the environment. Even if you calculate the use of power plants to create the electricity, it is still much more environmentally friendly to use.

One of the big cons is the safety aspect of it. Mainly were people don’t follow the rules and end up exposing themselves and others to dangerous situations by riding on the sidewalk, or not wearing the proper protective gear.

So what’s it like riding one

There are many electric vehicles on the market. To name a few we have skateboards, hoverboards, now even electrically powered shoes for god sake. However, the best part with scooters is that most of us have been riding bikes as a young kid and riding an electric scooter is even simpler than that. However, with the bike riding in our backbone the learning curve for electric scooters are very steep. It rarely takes anyone more than a couple of minutes to learn how to use it. Then after a couple more they will probably be comfortable enough to take them for a spin.

They are simple yet sophisticated machines that can be driven two ways, one is by using a push throttle and the other is by having the motocross standard twistgrip throttle.

The push throttle is, in my opinion, the most commonly used one and is very simple to operate although it doesn’t provide the same accurate adjustment of speed as a twist grip throttle would.

Why they gain in popularity

That’s how easy these vehicles are to use and I bet that is one of the key factors to them gaining mainstream popularity so fast. That and the scooter sharing companies who has helped push these into cities making it easier than ever to try before you buy.

I think this has helped scooter manufacturers to an extent that some actually reported sales of over 12,000 units during the Black Friday month in 2018.

Where do they increase the fastest

Countries like India, Indonesia, China and Singapore among other Asian countries have had a problem with pollution for years. It is no coincidence that these countries are also chipping in the most money into electric scooter manufacturing and trying to push people into considering this alternative transportation. The industry is all-set in these countries to really take off.

There are more electric scooter users in India then anywhere else in the world and even some low-pollution countries like Sweden has tagged along on this new way of transportation.

In Sweden they offer their citizens a 20% tax deduction for showing the receipt of a purchased electric scooter or bike. I think this carrot on a stick method might spread to other countries where the citizens yet have become aware of how dangerously close we are to making this planet unlivable. The situation that you find in some Asian countries where they have to cover their mouths to avoid the polluted air probably reminds them every single day.

I beg, hope and wish that this positive trend continues. All we need now is for the various governments around the world to sit down and come up with a set of rules both for manufacturers and users to follow.

Great life goal? Motivation to not join the 98%

I’m going to tell you seven ways to stay motivated when people put you down.

Does it happen that you think of a new goal or business idea and you want to share it with your family members and your friends, all those very close to you? And when you share it with them, you expected them to be so

Sharing your vision and great ideas isn’t always welcomed

And when you share it with them, you expected them to be so happy and excited for you as you are, but what you receive is discouragement and criticism.

Of course something like that can put you down making you rethink and re-evaluate your whole idea.

At those times it’s essential that you stay motivated and keep your eye on the ball. Think about their greatest accomplishments, do they really possess the knowledge to put you down in a moment of glory and happiness?

2% out of all human beings see great success, it is not because the others can’t. It is because the other 98% doesn’t believe or trust in them selves. So do not let their self-destructive thinking rub off on you!

Some tips in order to keep your eye on the ball

The first tip that I have for you is, Know your mission.

Yes. It’s very important that you know what you want to do.

But of course there are times when you share your vision with other people, they discourage you and they criticize you and they tell you so many stories of other people, who have failed while aiming higher. But people aiming higher never fail unless they give up.

But what should you do at that time? Should you deviate from your decision or re-evaluate what you believe in your heart and soul that you will accomplish? Not really.

I’ll share a situation with you.

My own situation rather, I always wanted to be a life coach and when I shared it with the people around me, they were not very as excited about this decision of mine as I was.

For a moment I was also skeptical that whether I should pursue this goal or not? Finally I decided that no, this is my ambition and I’m surely going to accomplish it and here I’m I have accomplished it. I might not be the famous Tony Robbins but I am working my way towards my life goals.

So this might not be your life-long goal, but it might be one of the opportunities that lead you there. So don’t let others get you down just because they are limited in their vision.

The second tip that I have for you is, don’t justify your goals.

You don’t have to justify your goals to other people. For all you know they make the same salary this year that they’ve made each year for the last 10 years.

However you must justify your goals to yourself, you should have a valid reason to why you are pursuing this and how.

There’s a possibility, I’m saying it out of personal experience that the more you try to justify your ideas to them, the more you’ll get discouraged and they’ll give you a thousand reasons to why you should not do what you must do.

It’s really not important for you to justify or give reasons for what you’ve decided to do.

Sure you can share it with friends and family. You probably know up-front who will be encouraging you and who among your friends that will try to drag you down to their level.

The third tip that I have for you is, don’t reveal too much too soon.

Yes, Shhhhhh.

It’s important that you keep your goals slightly secretive towards the beginning of the decision.

It’s because your goal has not yet gained too much positive momentum and it’s not ready to face the force of criticism.

Yes, that’s quite a possibility, whenever I sharemy goals with my friends. The first thing tell me are stories about how I can fail, they tell me to be careful.

Perhaps in their limited beliefs, they think that they are protecting me from failure when all they are doing is trying to imprison me in it.

But the fact is, If I have decided to do it and I’ve actually researched about my goal and I know that I can achieve it then why should I really worry about it.

So it’s better if you don’t reveal too much about your goal too soon.

The forth and really fun tip that I have for you is, expand your social circle.

Yes, we all want to do that, we want to meet new people and it’s really good to do that when you’ve set some new goals. Find mastermind groups and people with similar mindsets to help you grow both your idea and as a person.

Maybe the people that you are currently connected to do not share the same background as your and maybe not even the same interests and values.

Re-evaluate your friendships and make sure that the people you have in your life are helping you and not the other way around. There is so much negativity all around us, daily. Try to avoid it as much as possible.

So what I suggest is that you meet new people and expand your social circle. Maybe you can have a supporting network that you can tap into during your journey towards your goal. Try things like forums and other places where you think like-minded people might hang out.

And whenever you are too discouraged or too low or maybe too skeptical about your decision.

You should always have a go-to person. That could be a book, a video or a real-life person. Something that inspires you and motivates you to pick it up and keep on grinding!

The fifth tip that I have for you is, spend time in solitude.

But what do I mean by solitude? Solitude means in silence or being alone without anyone around you to disturb.

This reminds me of a famous quote by Albert Einstein that says: “Solitude stimulates a creative mind.”

So when you’re alone and there is nobody to disturb you, not even your phone, not your laptop or any other technological device. Then you have all the time in the world to think of a winning strategy and you can decide on a plan of action for your goal.

Once you know what you have to do you’ll be much more confident about your goal and you can almost start to feel them already accomplished, ready to face the force of criticism from people who settle for less.

So it’s very important that you spend your alone time and use that time to prepare the winning strategy.

The sixth tip that I have for you for is, find people who have succeeded in achieving the same goals as you.

Why is this an important step you might ask? It’s important so that you can follow their footsteps andyou can model and remodel what they have done.

After all, if they can succeed then why can’t you? It’s important that today you make a list of those people who have succeeded in achieving a great status within your niche, follow their social media, read their biographies, read about what they have done and how they achieved it. A good source for this is the 100 biographies you should read in a lifetime, by Amazon.

Try to follow in their footsteps and then after you get more confident you will stroll off on your own path to success and greatness.

So find those people, make a list, and follow them.

The seventh and the final tip that I have for you is, celebrate small wins.

Yes, it is of utmost importance that you celebrate your achievements, small as big.

How can you do that? So what I do is, I set some clear small goals like finding a mentor which might not directly increase how close I am to achieving my goal. But it is a small step towards it.

Finishing reading a book or sending an important email with questions.

If you’ve learned a new software application that will help me towards my goal, you can add that to the list.

Why you celebrate these small victories is that you have overcome challenges, if you have a bigger challenge you then know that you are able to do it again. Just split it up into smaller challenges and celebrate your way to success!

Ending words of motivation

You are your own inspiration, so do rememberto be inspired by yourself.

Starting to hit the end off the post in which I hope you have learned how to kill criticism through motivation.

Being self-motivated and being inspired by other people along with inspiring others and pushing them to become better persons and pursuing their goals.

Remember to focus on the finishing line and njoy every step of the journey towards your success.
